Premiums: 1st - $3.00, 2nd - $2.00; 3rd - $1.00; 4th – ribbon
- Entry fees in this department are: Open class - $2.00 per single entry or trio entry. 4-H/FFA Fancy single entry - $1.00. 4-H/FFA Broiler Pen - $2.00
- 4-H & FFA entries are due August 1, 2024.
- Poultry will be entered on the following criteria (except 4-H/FFA Broiler Pen):
- Cock - Male over 1 year of age
- Cockerel - Male under 1 year of age
- Hen - Female over 1 year of age
- Pullet - Female under 1 year of age
- Old Trio - 2 Hens and 1 Cock; all over 1 year of age
- Young Trio - 2 Pullets and 1 Cockerel; all under 1 year of age
-Waterfowl, Turkeys, and guinea Fowl will be shown as singles only. All birds in any pen must be of the same breed.
- Poultry will be shown by exhibitor only. Exhibitors are REQUIRED to be present and show their animal.
- Youth may only enter one (1) division. 4-H/FFA Division is for youth meeting the membership age guidelines. Junior Open is for 4-H Cloverbud aged members only.
- The general livestock rules will apply to 4-H/FFA members.
- All poultry must be owned at least 60 days prior to the fair. Broiler pen entries must be owned a minimum of 7 weeks.
- No entries will be accepted that are not banded with a number or letters. All poultry must be pre-banded by the exhibitor and must be done prior to check in. NO EXCEPTIONS
- American Poultry Association and American Bantam Association recognized breeds will be accepted. No cross breeds will be accepted except for the Broiler Pen. Fighting breeds are not allowed.
- Any animal showing signs of disease, infection, parasite, or open sores will not be accepted.
- An exhibitor may enter no more than four (4) entries in the 4-H/FFA Broiler Pen class.
- Exhibitor must feed and water their own animals. Eggs become property of the Poultry Department and will be destroyed. The Poultry Department is not responsible for accidents, mistakes, loss, or damage that should happen to occur. All entries entered at sole risk of owner.
- Poultry must be in place by 11:00 am Monday, August 12. Poultry will be released at 2:00 pm Saturday, August 17
- All 4-H/FFA Broiler Pens will be weighed in after the conclusion of the rabbit weigh-in on Monday, August 12.
- Absolutely no substitutions may be made.
- Exhibitors MAY NOT use locks on cages. Cages may be secured with zip ties only.
- There must be a minimum of 7 4-H/FFA Broiler Pens in order to guarantee one sale slot. The Grand Champion 4-H/FFA Broiler Pen will receive a belt buckle.
4-H/FFA Broiler Pen
Will consist of three (3) birds and shall have a minimum per pen weight of 12 pounds with an average weight of 4 pounds per bird and a maximum per pen weight of 18 pounds with an average weight of 6 pounds per bird. Birds in Broiler Pen should be the same sex to have a more uniform pen. One individual too light or too heavy can eliminate a pen. Pens must be set no later 11:00 am on Monday, August 12
