2024 FFA Farm Mechanics Contest

  1. Classes will be arranged by Superintendent and Judge(s) at the time of judging.

  2. Prize money will be assigned at the time of judging.  The Fair Board has assigned $350 in total prize money to this department.  Outside sponsor contributions will be awarded as determined by the Assistant Superintendent.

  3. The decision of the Judge(s) will be final.

  4. Entries should be submitted online by __________, 2024.  A bill of materials (not including labor) must be submitted to the Livestock Office in the cattle/sheep barn on Monday, August _____.  Late entries may be subject to a late entry fee as per the livestock entry rules.  

  5. Participants will be present at the time of judging to be interviewed by the judge(s).  Conflicts of scheduling with other fair events can be worked out.

  6. Entries in classes 13 and 14 will provide six to ten printed photographs of their project taken prior to, and during it being rebuilt.  These photographs will be submitted with the bill of materials.

Class 1 – Farm, Ranch, and Home Equipment, cost up to $200.

Class 2 – Farm, Ranch, and Home Equipment, cost over $200, up to $1,000.

Class 3 – Farm, Ranch, and Home Equipment, cost over $1,000.

Class 4 – Shop Equipment, cost up to $200.

Class 5 – Shop Equipment, cost over $200, up to $1,000.

Class 6 – Shop Equipment, cost over $1,000.

Class 7 – Trailers, other than livestock, bumper pull, cost up to $2,000.

Class 8 – Trailers, other than livestock, bumper pull, cost over $2,000, up to $4,000.

Class 9 – Trailers, other than livestock, bumper pull, cost over $4,000.

Class 10 – Trailers, other than livestock, that are gooseneck or 5th wheel.

Class 11 – Trailers for livestock, bumper pull.

Class 12 – Trailers for livestock, gooseneck or 5th wheel.

Class 13 – Rebuilt bumper pull trailers (see Rule #6 in this section)

Class 14 – Rebuilt gooseneck or 5th wheel trailers (see Rule #6 in this section)

Class 15 – Livestock Equipment, cost up to $200.

Class 16 – Livestock Equipment, cost over $200, up to $1,000.

Class 17 – Livestock Equipment, cost over $1,000.

Class 18 – Construction and Building Equipment, cost up to $500.

Class 19 – Construction and Building Equipment, cost over $500.

Class 20 – Home, Garden, Residential, cost up to $200.

Class 21 – Home, Garden, Residential, cost over $200, up to $800.

Class 22 – Home, Garden, Residential, cost over $800.

Class 23 – Hobby, cost up to $25.

Class 25 – Hobby, cost over $25, up to $100.

Class 26 – Hobby, cost over $100.

Class 27 – Open Division-Only boys & girls who have not reached their 19th birthday as of January 1st of the current year, who are a resident of Curry County and being home-schooled.  An Ag Agent, Ag Teacher, 4-H Club Leader, Principal or Superintendent will confirm that youth exhibiting are home-schooled students residing in Curry County prior to the fair.
