General Rules

 

  1. Pre-Entries can be made online at http://currnm.fairwire.com. Early entries will be very helpful. It is easier to delete entries rather than add them. By pre-entering we will have tags printed and ready for entries on entry day. Deadline for early online entries will be midnight, Tuesday August 1, 2023. After this date entries will be taken at the Home & Arts Building on Monday, August 14, 2023 from 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
  2. The following Departments are included under Home, Arts and Agriculture:
    • Agriculture
    • Photography
    • Baked Products
    • Food Preservation
    • Crafts
    • Clothing/Sewing
    • Needlecraft/Quilting
    • Flower and Horticulture Show
    • Art
  3. Division Guidelines:
    • Junior Division: 6-18 years of age (depending on Department, ages may be grouped as appropriate, refer to class list).
    • Adult Division: 19 years of age and older (some Departments may have special age/skill categories – 65 and older or special skills, refer to class list)
  4. Entry Times: The following schedule will be followed. NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED. ALL DIVISIONS, Monday, August 14, 2023 from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  5. EXHIBITS WILL NOT OPEN FOR VIEWING AT ANY TIME ON MONDAY.
  6. Exhibits Open for Viewing: Tuesday-(when judging and display is complete, but not before) 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday-4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday-4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday-4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Saturday-10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
  7. Judging: The Home & Arts building will be closed for judging on Tuesday morning at 8:00 a.m. and not reopened for viewing until judging and display in complete – not before 4:00 p.m. Tuesday.
  8. Exhibits Released: Sunday, August 20 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.
  9. The Curry County Fair cannot be responsible for items left after 4:00 p.m. Sunday, August 20.
  10. Best Of Show: A $20.00 Premium will be given for each BEST OF SHOW AWARD. In departments where there are both Adult and Junior Divisions there will be a Best of Show (if merited) for each division. This also holds true for departments with both Amateur and Professional divisions.

     

  11. An exhibitor cannot enter more than one entry under each class number. Only one entry per exhibitor in "any other" for each class will be accepted.
  12. Professionals (those who sell items regularly, who charge a fee for teaching classes or offer services as a professional) may not enter items in the amateur division. Professionals must enter in professional classes only. Professional classes are provided in Art, Photography, Needlework, Clothing and Decorated Cakes.
  13. Entries should be made in the name of the person who did the work. Exhibits will not be judged if entries are not exhibitor’s own work.
  14. All articles entered for premiums must have been made within the past year and must be completely finished.
  15. Articles on which Curry County Fair premiums have been awarded in previous year will not be accepted.
  16. Canned fruits, vegetables, etc. must be exhibited in quart or pint jars, regulation size. Please use new jar rings. All jellies should be exhibited in regulation canning jars, tall or short. Labels should be placed one-half inch from bottom of the jar.
  17. Baked items should be displayed on paper plates, enclosed in plastic bags.
  18. Every entry will be under control of the superintendent and be given every possible protection. Care will be taken to prevent damage, but in no event will the Curry County Fair be responsible for any loss that may occur.
  19. No entry fees will be charged.
  20. Judges will award no more than one first, one second and one third place in each category. Judges will award ribbons on merit.
  21. You may only enter items that fit the classes listed. New classes may be added at the discretion of the superintendent, only in the event the item does not fit in any other class.
  22. All entries (needlework, canning jars, clothing, etc.) must be clean.
  23. All exhibitors must be residents of Curry County.
  24. Read special rules for each department.

Note: The workers in the Home & Arts Building are volunteers. Please be considerate of their time and responsibilities by entering items early in the day, Monday. If there is inclement weather or you work until 5:00 p.m., please make arrangements to come during your lunch hour or have another person enter your items. The building will close at 6:00 p.m. Monday so that workers may have time to prepare for judging.
