About the event
The OTRA supports the sport of team roping by offering a platform for roping families to compete in a fun and competitive setting. As an independent corporation, the OTRA is represented by various Districts across Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. The annual OTRA Finals event takes place in July in Abilene, TX. Established in 1987 by Digger Howard, Cathy Chase, and S.E. Mayo, the OTRA was owned by Digger Howard until he sold it to Tim & Whitney McCright in July 2005. In September 2021, Teton Ridge, LLC acquired the association.
